Humanity above All — Fundraising Activity for Eidhi Foundation.

Eidhi foundation is a non-profit social welfare organization with a reknowned charity structure spread throughout the country. An angelic soul who served humanity like one pays dedicated love towards his religion, and ofcourse, what is Islam but humanism ? Edhi was a father figure for orphans and a shoulder of strength for the weak and helpless. He served more than 50,000 children, organized a fleet of 1800 ambulances, 28 rescue boats, and 2 airplanes for emergencies in his span of altruistic existence.
Soon after his demise, his Foundation, presently being run by his son Faisal Sattar, started facing difficulties and a gradual decrease in fundraising. The thought of so many children now facing a hard time struck me with the realization that we all can, if we choose to, play Edhi’s nobility to continue his cause. Therefore, I decided to start a donation collecting campaign on behalf of Edhi center, along with my fellows.
As the campaign progressed, we couldn’t ignore the fact that maybe collecting funds isn’t as easy as we first thought it would be. There were a lot of challenges, including covid-19 hampering our physical input, followed with scrutiny regarding validity of the campaign, a counter slogan of ‘why should we hand the money to you when we can directly provide it at the real Edhi centers?’ proved to be the most major reaction in our faces.
But of course, we also found some who greeted our campaign with open arms and helped with whatever was manageable for them. We then took considering our closed ones to be the foremost step to be taken. The main takeaway however was that initial setbacks are natural when one puts his foot into stirring positivity in this world. Our belief to stick to positivity strengthened along with the refinement of our management, communication and leadership skills. Thus these challenges have only rendered us more invested in the cause ! May God help us continue this. Ameen.
